Tapiseria Sandei Bucur, Phoenix II, face parte dintr-un ciclu tematic inspirat de pasarea mitica inzestrata cu virtuti precum sacrificiul, libertatea, creativitatea, darzenia, credinta, rigoarea si vigoarea; la sfarsitul unei vieti lungi si misterioase, aceasta isi face singura, din tamaie si numeroase plante aromatice, cuib, pe care apoi il aprinde; rugul astfel creat este necesar atat sacrificiului asumat, cat si renasterii intrupate. Pentru a-si construi un asemenea cuib – in tapiseria expusa, acesta constituie elementul central al tapiseriei – pasarea a ostenit in zboruri de-alungul carora a inregistrat campuri, paduri, asezari si ape. Vazute de sus, prin perspectiva numita chiar vol d’oiseau, acestea constituie canavaua pe care se profileaza locul magic in prag de prefacere.Dr. Doina Pauleanu, critic de arta si director al Muzeului de Arta din Constanta.
