Nicolae Moldovan

The perfect, archetypal shapes have not completely eliminated from their composition the authoritative and at the same time tender gesture of the artist who shaped them; in order to counter or disturb this tranquil and essentialised world, the artist resorts to entropy, intervenes in the shape and introduces (or rather drives through) in the composing material, in an orderly but resolute fashion, intentionally disharmonic or even (vaguely) threatening metal elements; as his repertoire of shapes hints, in a ritual-type endeavour, to the feminine torso, we can assume that the aforementioned metal elements suggest the hair (which ceases to be an adornment and becomes a burden), though the references to the savant creation of the tiara cannot be discarded either; note that the tendency to the monumental aspect of these pieces, regardless of size, in order to sketch the exhibitionistic presence of a young artist, worthy of the attention and remembrance of stakeholdersDoina Pauleanu PhD, art critic and director of the Constanta Art Museum.
