Zamfir Dumitrescu

Most of the scenes painted now by Zamfir Dumitrescu take place inside: space evolves towards depth between lateral backstage areas – usually curtains made of transparent materials, silks or brocades with heavy folds – but also through floors or ceilings, often paneled, in order to increase the degree of difficulty of the mastered craft; nobody (although there are feminine figures integrated into the ensembles) and nothing (in this offering of objects) disturbs the (meta)physical silence of the living quarters, of the landscapes or of other components of the interior seen through corridors and doors left ajar (as in the works of the small masters of the Netherlands school), towards which the perspectives are oriented, both quantitative and qualitative.

The painter Zamfir Dumitrescu was born on 15 April 1946, in Bucharest, Romania,
